A Week of Family Fun in Turks and Caicos

It’s a weeklong vacation without having to keep an eye on the weather forecast! Sea, sand and activities so varied you will not know how to choose: here is what your family might find in Turks and Caicos this summer.

Attend the Island Fish Fry

The Island Fish Fry is held every Thursday evening. Small stalls offer a colorful and flavorful mixture of food and craft, interspersed with live music and dancing. Coconut water, seafood and Conch as well as chicken and other meat-based meals are in the limelight.

Horseback riding on the beach

With two stables on the island to choose from, guests are matched with a horse that best complements their size and temperament. Rides either take you along Long Bay Beach or Bight Beach and into the water at the southeast end of the island (Provo Ponies) for a little refreshment!

Visit Potcake Place

Potcake Place is a dog rescue charity dedicated to nursing stray pups back to health. A wonderful program allows visitors to adopt a puppy for the day. Kids can take them for walks or runs along the beach or happily play ball. Be warned: love at first sight is common so do not be surprised if you end up making a request for adoption for more than a day!

Sail into the sunset

Spend a whole afternoon relaxing aboard the Atabeyra schooner sailing up the Caicos Cay chain as far as Ft. George Cay with a stop to snorkel near to the Barrier Reef where multi-colored marine life abound.

The warm, clear waters of Providenciales provide the perfect conditions for boat trips as well as scuba and open water diving adventures. Provided you have the required certification, Pro Turtle Diver professionals will be happy to treat you to spectacular views of the deep blue sea they know so well.

Plan a field trip to the Conch Farm

The knowledgeable guides at Caicos Conch Farm will take you on a factual and visual journey that details the life cycle of the Caribbean Queen Conch, the seashell from which you can hear the sea when you put it next to your ear. From the time the female lays her eggs to when they hatch, begin to grow out and when their shells begin to solidify and harden. It is a fascinating cycle!
