It’s a big first: all 37 guestrooms, the Hatley Restaurant, the Tap Room, the library, the English gardens overlooking the majestic Massawippi Lake, the chef’s herb garden, the pool and the property’s 2 hectares of gardens would be at your disposal.

It is a 90-minute drive from Montréal - or, for a more spectacular arrival, travel by helicopter or seaplane.

Nuptials with the pros

Two World Luxury Hotel recognitions have been awarded to the Manoir Hovey owners, the Stafford family: the best luxury country hotel in the Americas and best luxury wedding destination in Canada. What else could we add to commend the individuals directly responsible for this level of excellence?

The Executive Chef, Roland Ménard, recipient of countless awards, is available to discuss the menus, which feature high quality local ingredients for the wedding banquet and the receptions.

The restaurant manager and sommelier, Steve l’Abbé, trained in prestigious European restaurants, brings to the Manoir a wide knowledge of classical grand cru as well as wines from the new world.

An event coordinator will assist the family with the planning and throughout the Big Day.

A civil marriage will take place at the Manoir, performed by a notary and accompanied by a musical quartet, either inside or outdoors in the English garden.

For a religious marriage - Catholic, Anglican, United Church or Universalist - eight churches are available in the area and references can be given for rabbis or chuppahs.

Décor and floral arrangements are taken care of by a local team recommended by the Manoir.

How much? For the exclusivity

In spring, autumn or winter: starting from $18,000, including the onsite ceremony, rooms (double occupancy), a banquet of fine cuisine, one cocktail and half a bottle of wine per person, gourmet breakfast and the support of an event coordinator.

Summer weekend: starting from $48,000 for a two-night stay.

For small, intimate weddings

It is also possible to get married and celebrate at the Manoir without the exclusive use of the whole hotel. Manoir Hovey offers a more classic wedding package including a cocktail, a four course culinary experience and a one-night stay for the newlyweds with a gourmet breakfast.

Before and after the celebrations

In summer: tennis, pool, biking, sunning on the two private beaches, access to the lake for a swim or a paddle boat, kayak or canoe excursion, or a cruise on a pontoon on the lake.

In winter: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, downhill skiing, skating or sledding.

All times: access to the exercise room, massages $(solo or couple), concierge, room service and valet service.

A lovely story, a modern classic

The Atlanta American Atkinson family constructed this centennial property as a summer residence on the banks of the splendid Lake Massawippi. The vast veranda with its majestic columns were inspired by American President George Washington’s residence in Mount Vernon, Virginia.

All of the rooms have been recently refurbished in two styles: country and contemporary. Most of them have a balcony or a terrace and a fireplace (wood burning or gas). Every room and bathroom is different in style, furniture, space, color and consequently ambiance.

Wedding guests will take pleasure from visiting different rooms to compare, discuss… or why not, exchange!


Many Québec artists have booked a romantic stay at the Manoir. Chantal Fontaine, the actress, celebrated her wedding here. And Johnny Depp and Nicole Kidman (separately) were among the famous stars that have signed the guestbook.

The pinnacle: the Heron suite

Married? Single? Why not treat yourself to a fabulous stay, in whatever season, at the dining room or in one of the rooms, suites or pavilions on the hill?

Speaking of pavilion… The Heron suite, with its 1,400 sq feet, including 2 spacious bedrooms, each with a fireplace, 2 separate bathrooms, one with a double whirlpool bath and a steam shower, a private in-ground heated pool, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable screened-in porch, heated in winter, with a large hot tub overlooking the lake, can be combined with the Oriole suite – 1,200 sq feet - for a total of 2,600 generous sq feet of space. Do you want to bring any family or friends?

As for the cuisine, night or morning, the choice and abundance, quality and exquisite flavors are on the menu along with an impressive wine list.

A few mouthwatering suggestions: scallop boudin, Appalachian venison loin, mallard duck breast, beets ravioli, birch syrup and Ungava gin baba, a dark chocolate and pecan biscuit…
At breakfast, almost everything is homemade, from yogurt to the sausage and cretons including the compote.

Not to be missed

At the tap room: the s’mores station. These are marshmallow and caramel or chocolate sandwiches that you grill yourself in the large, open fireplace. A pure delight! In the summer, on the terrace, a gourmet Friday night BBQ, with a menu that changes regularly, featuring mallard duck breast, lobster…

At the table: one of the signatures of the Manoir, the homemade birch cider.
